The Town Council are planning ahead for 2012, which is set to be an exciting year for the people of Knutsford with the opportunity to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee and to mark the passage of the Olympic Torch Relay through the town.

Knutsford Town Council wishes to hear about the plans people and community groups have to mark these events and to help coordinate those activities if required.

It has therefore been agreed that the Council will hold a public meeting at 7pm on Wednesday 25th January at Brook Street Chapel, to which all of the community is invited.

Cllr Barbara Coan, Chairman of the Town Council's Events Subcommittee said "We want 2012 to be a great year and we want the community to seize the opportunity that is presented by these important celebrations.

"The purpose of the meeting is twofold, firstly to seek ideas as to how the Council can mark the events and provide for a long term legacy, but also to help those organisations out there who may wish to independently organise events to coordinate activities and maximise public engagement.

"We hope the people will attend the meeting and we look forward to learning more about what is planned for this summer."
