Properties in Knutsford are without water this morning.
United Utilities have confirmed that they became aware of the problem, which they said is affecting WA16 and SK11, at 10.15am due to the volume of calls received from customers.
A United Utilities spokeswoman said "An engineer is on route to investigate a possible pump failure but at this stage we are not aware if that is the cause of the problem.
"We are trying to establish the cause and get the water back on as soon as possible."
Are you without water this morning? Is the whole of Knutsford affected?
We'll keep you informed as best we can but do let us know when your water is restored, or if you live in Knutsford and have not been affected by the problem.
Update from United Utilities at 11:30am - "Our team of engineers located a mechanical fault at Knutsford Booster Station which has now been resolved. Water supplies have now been restored. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience."
Update 2.15pm. - We have just received a call from United Utilities.
Nick Hulme told knutsford.com "We have repaired a mechanical failure on a pump which happened this morning and we are just waiting for the water pressure to build up in the pipe network which is taking some time, which is why some customers are still experiencing loss of water."
"Obviously we apologise to those customers and just ask them to bear with us.
"We can assure them the repair has been made, it's just a case of waitiing for the water pressure to build back up again in the pipe network."
Update 8pm - We have just received another update from United Utilities.
Nick Hulme has just informed us:
"Supplies are now restored to everyone in Knutsford and Macclesfield, although some customers who live on higher ground may still be experiencing lower water pressure than normal.
"Pressure will continue to improve for these customers as the pressure continues to build up in the water network. We'd like to once again apologise to customers who have been inconvenienced this afternoon."
