All members of the community are being invited to enter a 'competition' to create and design an image to be included on a banner, which will be exhibited when the official Olympic Torch visits Knutsford on Thursday 31st May.

All members of the local community, including schools, community groups and local clubs of all ages, are encouraged to submit A4 landscape images.

Richard Christopherson, LAP Manager for Knutsford, said "The Knutsford LAP is excited about the visit of the official Olympic Torch and has established a sub group entitled 'Embrace The Games' to help celebrate this wonderful occassion.

"The banner competition enables all members of the community to be creative and get involved in producing something which can be displayed on the 31st May. Plans for the completed banner are being considered for it to act as a legacy in the Knutsford Heritage Centre."

Pieces of art can be handed in to the town clerk by Friday 30th March and will be judged by a panel including the Mayor of Knutsford Cllr Stewart Gardiner, Cllr Steve Wilkinson as the LAP champion, a local business representative and two members nominated by the local town and parish councils.

All entries must be A4 size and in landscape. Images can include drawings using felt tip, pen, paint, photographs, electronic images or collage and the material used can be paper or fabric.

The early indications are that responses to the competition are very positive, and we are looking forward to receiving many entries. All the schools in the Knutsford LAP have been contacted together with Town and Parish Councils who are promoting the competition in their own areas. All competition entries must be submitted to the 'competition co-ordinator' within your own or Parish council. Good luck if you are thinking of entering!!
