Friends of The Moor are inviting local families to take part in an afternoon of fun for everyone.

The Pancake Race will take place on the Moor between 2pm and 4pm on Sunday, 19th February.

Friends of the Moor helped revived the tradition last year by organising an event in conjunction with the Heritage Centre which attracted about 50 visitors.

Vivien Davies, Chairman of Friends of the Moor, said "It was a joint effort last year. The Heritage Centre found out that pancake races used to take place at the Royal George 50 years ago so we thought it would be a nice idea to resurrect because it is a fun thing for the children to do."

Registration will take place before the races on the Moor, then depending on the numbers heats will be formed. The course will have been set out earlier in the day and there will be medals for the winners.

Cllr Davies added "The children will have to run half way along the course, stop and toss the pancake three times before running the rest of the course, whilst adults will have to go there an back. Age groups will depend on who turns up, we'll just have to wait and see who comes along and then we'll arrange accordingly."

Registration will take place from 1.30pm and racers are requested to bring their own frying pans.

Entry to the races will cost £1 for adults and 50p for children. If the weather is exceptionally bad on the day, the event will unfortunately have to be cancelled. For further information please contact 01565 751078.
