Firefighters were called to a house on Queensway on Monday, 13th February, where they found a fire in the first floor bedroom which was well alight.

Fortunately occupants had exited the property prior to the arrival of the fire crews.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel to extinguish the fire along with a large industrial fan to clear the smoke.

The fire was thought to be caused by a dressing gown coming into contact with a tealight, a small amount of damage was caused to the bedroom door and surround.

A Home Safety Assessment was completed prior to leaving the property.
